iwansastrawiguna : From USA to Jakarta since 1999
Iwan Sastrawiguna Interior Design
Received his BFA degree in interior design from University of San Francisco (a cooperative program with Academy of Arts) in 1992. In 1995 he decided to return to Jakarta Indonesia where he was born to help his family in their retail furniture chain. In 1999, Iwan opened his own practice.
Since childhood, Iwan enjoyed rearranging furnitures and home accessories at his parents’ house. Not only that the house got a different ambiance, but he also got a personal satisfaction.
His connection to interior design started as a child growing up in a family who started their furniture business in the West Jakarta Old Town district. Everyday he was able to see imported & local products such as lightings, furnitures, and home accessories. At an early stage of his life, he began to observe the beauty of wooden cabinetโs finishing and the intricacy of crystal chandelier.
